VICTORVILLE, Calif., July 17 (High Desert News Online) — Costco food courts in several California stores have started selling chicken strips, a $6.99 menu item that workers say is replacing the chain’s calzone at some locations.

Workers at stores in Alhambra, Los Feliz and Bakersfield’s Rosedale Highway area said the item appeared on July 11. A Santa Rosa employee said it arrived July 6, and a Concord worker said it had been available for a few days by July 15.

Menu boards list five chicken strips and dipping sauce. The signs also put the item at 1,130 to 1,640 calories.

The item has also been seen at a Victorville warehouse food court. The menu boards and worker reports do not show whether the change is permanent, and the California rollout appears to be happening on different days at different stores.
