HESPERIA, Calif., Sept. 30 (Our Hesperia) — The Hesperia Recreation and Park District has approved agreements totaling $3.3 million to resolve two lawsuits brought by former employees who alleged they faced retaliation after reporting suspected misconduct, the district announced Sept. 14.

The employees alleged they were retaliated against after reporting suspected misconduct and potentially unlawful activity, according to the district’s announcement. The allegations have not been established as fact.

The district said one complaint alleged that Director Kelly J. Gregg exceeded his authority, interfered with personnel matters and investigations, and acted in ways employees considered threatening or intimidating. The district’s announcement did not identify the former employees, the courts handling the cases or how the $3.3 million would be divided between the two agreements.

The district said the settlements would avoid further litigation costs and allow it to direct resources toward community programs and services.
