From Oak Hills Standout to International Competition

Solaita’s selection to represent American Samoa marks a major accomplishment for both the athlete and the Hesperia Unified School District, highlighting the growing impact of High Desert talent on collegiate and international stages.

Before making headlines at Sacramento State, Solaita established herself as one of the most decorated volleyball players in Oak Hills High School history. During her prep career, she earned back-to-back Mojave River League (MRL) Athlete of the Year honors, finishing with the league’s top recognition in 2025.

Her leadership helped propel the Oak Hills Bulldogs to a CIF Southern Section volleyball championship appearance, while her dominant senior campaign secured her a coveted All-CIF Team selection. She was also named the 2024–2025 Hesperia Unified School District Athlete of the Year, recognizing her as the district’s top overall athlete.

Excellence in Athletics and Academics

Solaita’s success extended beyond the volleyball court. She graduated from Oak Hills High School with a 3.87 cumulative GPA, reflecting a strong balance between academics and elite athletic competition.

That combination of classroom discipline and athletic dedication has become a defining feature of student-athlete success stories across the High Desert. Hesperia Unified School District has long emphasized academic preparation alongside competitive extracurricular programs, promoting its mission of preparing students for future opportunities.

Sacramento State Freshman Season Draws National Attention

At Sacramento State, Solaita quickly transitioned from standout recruit to one of the NCAA Big Sky Conference’s top young players. Her performance during the 2025–2026 season earned her Freshman of the Year recognition, an award that placed her among the conference’s most impactful emerging athletes.

Her rapid rise reflects a broader trend of Southern California high school athletes making immediate impacts at the collegiate level, particularly in women’s volleyball, where California programs have historically produced some of the nation’s strongest talent pipelines.

HUSD Athletic Tradition Continues

Hesperia Unified School District, serving students across the High Desert region of San Bernardino County, has built a reputation for combining competitive athletics with community-centered education. Oak Hills High School, one of the district’s flagship campuses, has developed a strong athletic tradition in recent years, producing athletes who compete at the collegiate level across multiple sports.

Solaita’s international selection adds another chapter to that legacy, underscoring the opportunities available to local students through dedication, strong coaching, and sustained academic commitment.
