Bracamontes, a four-year Oak Hills Bulldog and former Cedar Middle School Spartan, addressed classmates during the May 26 graduation ceremony after writing his commencement speech independently. His message focused on determination, resilience and embracing challenges while recognizing the support provided by family, friends and educators throughout his educational journey.
The speech reflected years of personal growth. As a young student, Bracamontes struggled with stepping outside his comfort zone. By graduation, he had become a confident public speaker capable of inspiring an entire stadium filled with graduates, families and faculty members.
Breaking Barriers Through Music
Music played a significant role in Bracamontes’ transformation throughout high school.
Although he began as a pianist before entering Oak Hills High School, he decided to join the Oak Hills Bulldog Brigade marching band after being inspired by his sister. His commitment quickly paid off.
By his senior year, Bracamontes had mastered 11 percussion instruments, becoming a valuable member of the award-winning Bulldog Brigade.
His contributions helped the marching band earn back-to-back silver medals during the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 competition seasons, continuing Oak Hills High School’s tradition of excellence in music education and extracurricular achievement.
Years of performing before large audiences with the marching band also helped prepare him for delivering his commencement address, giving him confidence to stand before thousands of spectators on graduation day.
A Strong Support Network
Bracamontes credited the supportive environment created by the Hesperia Unified School District, emphasizing the encouragement he received from educators, coaches and fellow students throughout his four years at Oak Hills High School.
He recognized the Bulldog Brigade for welcoming him from the beginning and acknowledged the positive influence of Coach Locklear and Coach Monica, whose guidance and encouragement helped him develop both confidence and leadership skills.
His family also witnessed remarkable personal growth throughout his educational journey, particularly as he learned to advocate for himself by requesting additional time and accommodations when necessary.
HUSD Director of Special Services Eric Land said Bracamontes serves as an inspiration to students throughout the district, especially those with disabilities. He noted that Bracamontes’ message of inclusion, acceptance and perseverance reflects the district’s commitment to helping every student reach his or her potential while reminding educators of the lasting impact they can have on young lives.
Looking Ahead
Following graduation, Bracamontes has earned a scholarship to Victor Valley College, where he plans to continue his musical interests by joining the college’s jazz band while pursuing studies in computer animation and participating in esports.
Before beginning college, however, the new graduate plans to enjoy a well-earned summer break after completing four years of academic and extracurricular accomplishments. A devoted Los Angeles Dodgers fan, he intends to spend time relaxing and enjoying his favorite television shows before beginning the next chapter of his education.
HUSD’s Commitment to Student Success
The accomplishments of Bracamontes also reflect the Hesperia Unified School District’s continued emphasis on providing opportunities for all students through academics, athletics, arts and specialized support services.
Serving more than 20,000 students, HUSD continues to invest in inclusive educational programs designed to prepare students for college, careers and lifelong success under its mission of “Preparing Today’s Students for Tomorrow’s World.”
The district has increasingly emphasized expanding Career Technical Education opportunities, dual enrollment programs, performing arts and special education services, allowing students with diverse talents and abilities to excel both inside and outside the classroom.
Bracamontes’ graduation speech served as a reminder that perseverance, community support and determination can open doors that once appeared out of reach. His journey from a quiet middle school student to an accomplished musician, confident public speaker and scholarship recipient exemplifies the opportunities available to students who embrace challenges and remain committed to achieving their goals.
