Elite coaching and affordable programs unite to elevate young athletes

Hesperia, California (Our Hesperia) – A2R Performance Development has launched its first training facility in Hesperia, bringing elite youth basketball coaching to local players. The new center, founded by Hesperia native and former Division I standout Aaron Alston, offers one-on-one instruction, small-group skill sessions, and high-energy camps designed to help children and teens master the fundamentals of youth basketball.
Facility and Programs Tailored for Young Players
A2R Performance Development’s new facility features a full-size court and sport-specific training area. Sessions include one-on-one skill work, small-group drills, and large-group camps. Conditioning and plyometric drills are built into each program to boost strength, speed, and agility. Children as young as five can join beginner classes, while advanced groups serve teens preparing for high school and beyond. The flexible schedule runs Sundays at the Epicenter on Hercules Street, with monthly packages priced to keep training accessible for Hesperia families.
Coach Aaron Alston’s Vision for Youth Basketball
Aaron Alston, a Hesperia High graduate and former SWAC champion at Southern University A&M, founded A2R Performance Development to give back to his hometown. “I want every kid here to have the chance to grow both on and off the court,” Alston explains. His coaching résumé includes USA Basketball Gold Certification and professional play experience in the Drew League and overseas. By combining court fundamentals with life-skills mentorship, Alston aims to shape confident, disciplined young athletes.
Community Impact in Hesperia
Local parents and school coaches say the arrival of A2R is a welcome boost for area youth sports. For months, families have juggled long drives to San Bernardino or Apple Valley for quality training. Now, Hesperia kids can sharpen their shooting, dribbling, and teamwork skills closer to home. Parent look forward said “We save time, and she’s already more focused in her school team practices.”
Program Structure and Schedule
A2R looks to offer four age-and-skill levels each Sunday:
- 10 a.m.–11 a.m. for ages 5–8 (Beginner)
- 11:10 a.m.–12:10 p.m. for ages 9–17 (Beginner)
- 12:20 p.m.–1:20 p.m. for ages 7–11 (Intermediate/Advanced)
- 1:30 p.m.–2:30 p.m. for ages 12–17 (Intermediate/Advanced)
Monthly fees start at $80 per participant, with discounts for siblings. One-on-one “shot clinics” and team training for local AAU squads are also available by appointment.
Reaction from Families and Educators
Teachers and youth-sports organizers praise the new training hub. “Structured practice builds discipline and teamwork.” Parents report improved confidence and court IQ in their children after just a few sessions. Ricardo Martinez, whose son attends the advanced camp, adds, “He’s making better split-second decisions and is more coachable on game day.”
Long-Term Benefits for Hesperia Youth
By investing in local talent, A2R Performance Development hopes to raise the profile of Hesperia basketball. Alston plans to host summer camps, holiday clinics, and guest sessions with college coaches. Stronger youth programs can lead to more high-school scholarships and community pride. As A2R grows, the center may add volleyball and soccer training, further enriching youth sports offerings in the High Desert.
