BAHRAIN, June 27 (World Daily Times) — Bahrain said Iran sent drones into its territory on Saturday, prompting condemnations from the Gulf Cooperation Council and several Gulf states that said the strike threatened regional security and peace efforts.

Bahrain’s Foreign Ministry called the attack a “flagrant threat” to the kingdom’s security and said the Iranian regime was responsible for undermining peace efforts.

Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi described the attack as “treacherous” and said it would weaken diplomacy in the region.

Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry said the strikes were “a dangerous undermining of endeavors for peace and stability” and a threat to regional security. Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates also condemned the attack in separate statements, saying it violated Bahrain’s sovereignty and international law.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said on state television that it had targeted several locations “of the U.S. terrorist army in the region,” according to Fox News, which cited The Associated Press. Fox News reported that no casualties or significant damage had been reported. The available statements did not identify the locations hit in Bahrain or give a detailed damage assessment.
