MIAMI, July 23 (Our Florida Times) — Burger King is making two big service changes as it tries to improve order accuracy and guest satisfaction: a new restaurant manager role called the Your Way Champion and a Whopper Guarantee that promises a remake if the sandwich is not right.
The company announced the changes from Miami, Florida, where its official blog post said the goal is to make its “Have It Your Way” message real in daily service. Burger King said the changes came after it invited customers to call and text feedback earlier in the year.
What is the Your Way Champion?
Burger King describes the Your Way Champion as a reimagined restaurant manager role. The company says the person in that role is meant to be a point person for customers, with a focus on hospitality, customization, and making sure the order is correct.
Burger King also said the role comes with its own uniform. The chain has not said in the materials reviewed whether this position will be added in every restaurant or only in some locations.
What is the Whopper Guarantee?
The Whopper Guarantee is a promise tied to Burger King’s signature sandwich. If a Whopper does not meet a guest’s expectations, Burger King says it will remake it on the spot and give the customer a free future Whopper through a QR-code redemption process.
The company has not fully explained the terms of that QR-code offer, including any time limits or limits on which Whoppers qualify.
Why is Burger King doing this now?
Burger King said the changes came after it opened phone lines and invited people to share feedback earlier this year. In a statement to Fox News Digital, the company said customers responded with thousands of calls and texts.
Tom Curtis, president of Burger King US and Canada, has also said in interviews that he personally responded to customer calls. In one interview with CNBC, he said Burger King had received more than 70,000 incoming communications. He said the feedback showed that customers liked the Whopper but sometimes felt it was squished or not served on a bun they liked.
Burger King says that customer input also helped shape earlier changes to the Whopper that were announced in February.
What changed about the Whopper earlier this year?
Burger King said the Whopper got a new glazed bun, creamier mayonnaise, and clamshell-style packaging instead of paper. The company said those updates rolled out at more than 7,000 locations across the country starting in late February.
On its official blog, Burger King said the Whopper remained more than a quarter-pound of 100% flame-grilled beef and that it was not trying to reinvent the sandwich. The company said it was adjusting the product based on direct guest feedback.
What does Burger King say the feedback showed?
Burger King and its parent company, Restaurant Brands International, have said the changes are part of a broader effort to improve the brand.
On an earnings call, Restaurant Brands International CEO Joshua Kobza said the redesigned sandwich was getting positive feedback from guests and producing the highest average unit volumes for the Whopper in more than three years, according to CNBC.
Curtis has said the company wanted to listen more closely to customers and act on what they were saying.
What is still unclear?
The company has not said whether the Your Way Champion role changes wages or staffing levels, or how franchise owners will handle the new process.
It also has not clearly said whether the Whopper Guarantee applies to every Whopper variation or only the standard sandwich.
For Florida, the main connection is corporate: Burger King’s announcement came from Miami, but the company has not identified any specific Florida restaurant that is testing or leading the changes.
For now, Burger King is betting that a more visible manager role and a stronger promise on its best-known sandwich will help win back trust one order at a time.
