PRIMM, NEVADA, July 23 (Vegas News Online) — Terrible’s reopened Primm Valley Casino on Wednesday, restoring full casino operations at the border-town property in Primm, Nevada, just 17 days after the company took control of it.
The reopening matters because Primm is more than one casino floor. The site sits on Interstate 15 at the California-Nevada line and serves travelers moving between Southern California and Las Vegas. For years, the Primm Valley complex has been a roadside stop as well as a gaming and hotel destination.
What reopened?
Terrible’s said the casino reopened with 422 gaming machines, 250 hotel rooms, a William Hill sportsbook, a sports bar and a 24-hour quick-bites restaurant.
The company also said new promotions and rewards would begin on reopening day, and that additional dining options were already being planned.
Why is the reopening happening so quickly?
Terrible’s said it moved fast after taking control of the property. The company announced that it reopened Primm Valley Casino on July 22, after gaining management control 17 days earlier.
The Nevada Gaming Control Board approved Terrible Herbst’s application to operate Primm Valley Resort & Casino, Buffalo Bill’s Resort & Casino and Whiskey Pete’s Hotel & Casino on June 25. Affinity Interactive later said management control of the gaming properties transferred at 12:01 a.m. on July 5.
That meant the reopening followed a short transition period, not a long renovation or rebuild.
What changed for guests?
Terrible’s said it is scrapping resort fees at Primm Valley Casino. Resort fees are extra daily charges hotels often add on top of the room rate.
The company also said it will match rewards tiers previously earned by returning customers. In practical terms, that means guests who had built up loyalty status before the change should not have to start over from zero.
Terrible’s said employees and network workers had worked around the clock to bring the property back online.
How does Primm fit into the bigger picture?
The Primm casino complex is important because it sits at a gateway point between California and Nevada. Affinity Interactive had said Primm Valley Casino was the only casino property open before the management transition and that its immediate focus was to reopen it in the coming weeks.
Affinity also said Terrible’s took over management of other Primm properties on July 1, including Primm Center, the Chevron gas station, Flying J, Whiskey Pete’s Travel Store, the Lotto Store and Starbucks. The company said those locations reopened by July 2 for holiday travelers.
Who is behind the transition?
Terrible’s is part of the Herbst family business interests in Las Vegas. The Primm family is also tied to the property through the original Primm business name, and Corey Clemetson, identified as the grandson of Primm founder Ernie Primm, took part in the reopening ceremony.
The deal was described in reporting as a partnership between the Herbst family’s Terrible’s and the Primm family to operate the property and avoid a planned July 4 closure.
What happens next?
Terrible’s said more dining options are in the works, along with the new promotions it launched at reopening. For now, the main change for visitors is simple: Primm Valley Casino is open again, with no resort fees and a full gaming floor back in service.
For a border-town property that depends on road traffic, that is the key test — whether the new operator can turn a fast reopening into steady business.
